Tucked away on Turkey’s stunning Mediterranean coast, Kekova and Simena are must-see destinations known for their sunken ruins, turquoise waters, and peaceful charm. Whether you’re a history lover, nature enthusiast, or curious explorer, getting there is part of the adventure.
🚤 From Demre: The Easiest and Most Popular Route

The most convenient way to reach both Kekova Island and the village of Simena (Kaleköy) is from Demre’s Çayağzı Harbor (Çayağzı Limanı), just a 10-minute drive from Demre town center.
By car or taxi: Follow signs toward Çayağzı Limanı or ask locals — it’s well-known.
By public transport: During the summer, local minibuses (dolmuş) may run to the port from Demre.
At the harbor: You’ll find daily boat tours and private boat rentals going to Kekova and Simena. Most trips include swimming stops, the sunken city ruins, and time to explore the castle in Simena.
Boat tours typically last 2–4 hours, depending on the route.

Travel Tip from Deniz:
“My favorite way to visit Simena is by taking a morning boat from Çayağzı Harbor. You get calm waters, fewer crowds, and the magic of the Mediterranean all to yourself—especially if you hike up to the castle before noon!”
